Rogue Creamery is a company of artisan cheese makers located in southern Oregon. Their award winning cheeses are prized by cheese lovers around the world, many who travel to Central Point, OR to visit the historical cheese shop and experience first hand where this wonderful cheese comes from.
The cheese shop is located in a block masonry and stucco building that was the original creamery and cheese shop built back in 1956. The current owners wanted to insure preservation of the historical facade when discussing how best to renovate both the interior for flow efficiency and the exterior for shading and outdoor seating.
Subtle improvements have been made including replacing original storefront windows with new energy efficient windows that allow more light in, but do not heat up the space. Shade canopies have been added across the front of the store to provide shade for the windows and exterior seating. A new door has been cut in to allow flow through access to a new outdoor patio area. New fencing incorporating repurposed corrugated metal panels outlines the extents of the outdoor patio area while also securing the back of house service areas from the public. On the interior a new steel countertop that wraps a view window into the creamery has been added to provide seating for waiting customers and the second cash register has been relocated to be near the new second entry to allow for more efficient queue lines.
